Ceremonial Cacao

I absolutely adore a cup of ceremonial cacao, and I must say I go through seasons of having it daily, then go months without it. However, since returning to Brighton 2 weeks ago, I've been having it every single morning and I am loving the cosy ritual of it.

I add a few extra bits and pieces to mine so I thought that I’d share my recipe with you in case you wanted to give it a whirl.

What you’ll need:
20g of ceremonial cacao (I use Nourish Hub Cacao)
1 tbsp of ghee
2 tbsp of vanilla protein powder (I use Sunwarrior Protein Classic)
½ tbsp collagen powder
¼ tsp cinnamon
Pinch of salt
Sprinkle of cayenne pepper (to taste)
250ml water
Mini Marshmallows

Instructions:

  1. Chop/shave cacao chunks and add to a sauce pan with ghee, protein powder, collagen powder, cinnamon, salt, cayenne pepper and water. Place saucepan over low heat.

  2. Stir regularly to combine ingredients and ensure that it doesn't come to the boil and rise up to spill over the edges.

  3. Once the chocolate shavings have melted and the ingredients have combined and heated through remove from the heat.

  4. Use a handheld milk frother (like this one) to further combine ingredients, eliminate separation and achieve a creamy consistency.

  5. Serve warm and top with mini marshmallows.

    ENJOY!
